AOPA Certificate

Devised and endorsed by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) the course is considered to be the standard qualification in aerobatics with the aim of making pilots proficient in basic aerobatics.

The course consists of a minimum of 8 hours flight tuition and 8 hours ground tuition. The emphasis throughout is on good airmanship and safety and is designed to give the student a full understanding of both human and aircraft limitations.

The standard AOPA Certificate syllabus consists of:

  • Legislation affecting aerobatic flying
  • Airframe and engine limitations
  • Physical limitations, body stresses - 'g' forces, disorientation, airsickness
  • Pre-flight procedures
  • Slow flight, level, climbing, turning and descending
  • Stall entries and recoveries from various flight attitudes
  • Advanced (maximum rate) turns
  • Spins and precision recoveries
  • Recoveries from unusual attitudes
  • Loop
  • Aileron roll
  • Barrel roll
  • Slow roll
  • Stall turn
  • Roll off the top of a loop
  • Combination sequence
  • Aerobatic airmanship

Course Fees:

8 hours ‘dual’ Extra EA200 @ £220 per hour Inc. VAT = £1,760

Non-members will need to pay for membership @ £100 per year pro-rata.
