Devised and endorsed by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) the course is considered to be the standard qualification in aerobatics with the aim of making pilots proficient in basic aerobatics. The course consists of a minimum of 8 hours flight tuition and 8 hours ground tuition. The emphasis throughout is on good airmanship and safety and is designed to give the student a full understanding of both human and aircraft limitations. The standard AOPA Certificate syllabus consists of:
